Cheveu

Cheveu seem to constantly mutate, and even though this is technically only their second full length, it feels like they've burnt clean impulses, reinvented themselves and strengthened their best moves on 1000. Add to their already twisted post-punk core a heavier reliance on crackled Casio beats and an odd affinity for strings and the band's gritty sound is blown open in disordered technicolor, like hurling paint cans at a wall. It seems that the French have had a way with knocking down a few of punk's wall lately and Cheveu seem to be one of the few leading the charge; besides its not all bands that can fry your childhood with a robot-industrial cover of "Ice Ice Baby". Definitely an album that's going to come up against polarizing opinions; few will love it and many may hate it, but its worth the time to let it snake under your skin.

Great post.
Their show in Israel about a year ago was just amazing. one of the best shows I've seen in 2010.

i, for one, love the new record. their show in seattle at the funhouse a few years back was one of my favorite shows in the city. i wish i could make it to see them play at the S-S Records 10th Anniversary show in May...
